Everything is fast and furious when it comes to online marketing, and all marketers have only one major goal: traffic. Driving traffic to one's site is an online marketer's main job. And during the bygone era in Internet technology, any kind of traffic to a site can mean cash. That isn't the case for today. Your site can have a PR5, top ranked in Alexa, and has ten million clicks in a day but still you end up losing money.
There's a specific kind of traffic that's worth the attention of any marketer now. This is what we call targeted traffic. There are highly doable and efficient ways to drive this type of traffic to your site. Some of these techniques would require small amount of money, but mostly, it requires one important factor which not everyone can have: imagination. When you say targeted, it means selected. You not only select the kind of visitors you want to have but more so for those whom you don't want to have.
You must have heard about link exchange. It's an old-time strategy to find web sites with good ranking and high traffic and shoot an email to their web masters for trading links. The downside about it is when you're just a starting site. Of course web site giants won't even give a darn about you. That's why you resort to a little act of bribery. Tell them you're going to pay them a $100 for linking. It's more likely that you have invites pouring in in a couple days.
You can also do a tricky strategy. Study the links found in your competitors and give cash incentive for them if they link to your site.
Another strategy is to enlist your site in special offer and coupon sites. Visitors of these sites are on the look out for rebates, freebies, discounts, and bargains. When you have a rebate in cash or service, you can ask for your URL to be listed there. You are sure to get a lot of traffic to your site from these rebate-hungry visitors.
With all these brand-new marketing concepts, the time-tested traditional business networking strategy still persists. The latest joint venture craze is pretty much an indication of it. When you have managed to create strong business relationships, you will have other marketers asking to link up with your site, voluntarily publishing your articles, talking about your site in their own, and other times offering you free advertising.
One good venue to have this kind of business ties is through forum sites. The technique here is that instead of conversing with end customers, you talk to experts in fields related to your niche and link up with them eventually. Like all other business networking strategies, you have to find all ways to help your colleagues.
You might not get those targeted results overnight, but given enough time and perseverance, you're sure to have your most desired traffic.
