Well aside from just leaving and getting out of dishonest relationship there are some things to do and think about. The reason I write this article is because of some disturbing news I heard about a couple I have known for years. They had been married for over 10 years and apparently things started getting really bad over the last two. The dishonesty was not only within the relationship but also with friends. The male in this relationship had been telling me and many others over the last year and a half that they were still together when they have been divorced for over 2.
Inside of the relationship is where the majority of the lies were and given how dishonest he was with friends I am not surprised she had her issues with him. Being open and honest in any relationship is the key to having good communication. Most of us agree without communication no relationship has any hope in surviving.
Here are some things to think about when starting a new relationship or keep an existing one healthy and strong. I call myself an expert on the matter as I have had both successful and unsuccessful relationships and in both cases the cause of the relationship was totally based up how good the communication was or wasn't.
I think after the first couple of dates when the time is right you need to get everything on the table. Talk about the things you aren't proud of and even discuss areas where you know you have weaknesses. I for one have always had a patience issue, this has always been one of my biggest character flaws. While I can blow up quickly I also have a great ability to deal with things quickly and move on. This is something I have always decided to talk to a new partner about early in the relationship. In most cases there was quite a shock from the other side of the table when I first brought this up and on the other hand it was much easier for that person to deal with me the first time I lost my patience. It doesn't matter who you are we all have our baggage and I really think it helps to discuss this stuff early.
Also when it comes to honesty I think it's important to discuss past relationships with the new person you are with. We don't need to go into detail unless it's really important, what I am talking about is how long they were together and why it didn't work out and if there were kids involved. It amazes me how many people aren't honest when it come to having kids especially on internet dating sites.
Being totally honest and discussing all of these things early will only strengthen your relationship and save some very stressful conversations down the road. Good luck with your next one!
