If you are anything like me, then you like your blue jeans made in the USA. I remember back in the nineteen eighties that most every pair of jeans you could buy were made here. Somewhere along the way Americans have gotten taken in by lower prices and have accepted a lower quality pair of blue jeans as well. Back when Levis were still made in USA, my pair always seemed to last for ever, in fact you can still buy what is called vintage Levis in many stores found on the Internet. I think that is a testament to the American worker. A product that was made by Americans way back in the eighties is still in one piece and still holds value in the eyes of many buyers.
Today you can still buy made in USA blue jeans from the Gusset Jean company. They make a high quality, very comfortable pair of blue jeans. They cost more than the lesser quality jeans you find at most retailers today, but they are worth every penny. As a bonus you can feel good knowing that you are keeping a fellow American employed.
If you are someone who cares about where your clothing and other items you buy are made, then why not do a quick Internet search for buy buy American . There are many Internet retailers that offer clothing, shoes, toys and other products all made right here in America. With American made products you wont have to worry about whether or not there is any lead or other hazardous chemicals in the items you buy, unlike products that are made in China.
If you are interested in buying sneakers that are made in the USA, you may be able to find a pair of New Balance at your local shoe store that are indeed made here. I was able to find a pair at my local shoe store. They cost me about seventy dollars, but I still have them a year later and wear them practically every day. It would be a great idea to send New Balance a thank you note telling them that you appreciate the fact that they go out of their way to employ Americans by having some of their sneakers made here.
If there is going to be any silver lining in any of the bad economic news that we have gotten lately it is the fact that we will more than likely have to stop importing all those foreign goods and start producing here at home again. Nothing will pull America out of her economic slump faster than a growing manufacturing base. The more we produce the more we can export, the more Americans will prosper from it. But it all starts with you and me being willing to buy from our countrymen. If made in China starts collecting dust on the shelves while American made products are selling out, then any smart retailer will ditch the made in China for made in USA. Its just good business sense. So next time your out shopping please remember to check the label and see where the item is made. You can make a difference, please buy American.
