Pros and Cons of Cosmetic Injection Treatments

By : Beth Ibarra    99 or more times read

There are many different types of cosmetic filler out there that can help your face look younger and less worn. Knowing the difference between all of these products can easily get complicated. One of the most popular injection treatments for lines and wrinkles is actually a paralyzing agent rather than a filler. That product is known in the mainstream market as Botox.

Botox cosmetic injection treatments have their advantages and disadvantages just like any medical treatment. While they do a great job of paralyzing the facial muscles and getting rid of troublesome wrinkles and lines, the product is also a watered down strain of botulism. Botulism is a toxin that can kill you when ingested in large quantities. Because it is so diluted in Botox, it is highly unlikely to have any effect other than a paralytic one on your facial muscles, but you might want to think twice before injecting your body with a toxin. There are a handful of other treatments out there that are just as effective and not made with toxic bacteria. Even if it is only a small amount that will paralyze the muscles, the thought deters many people from getting the procedure done.

A Botox cosmetic injection actually paralyzes your face muscles, but only does so for about four to six months before touch ups are needed. At this point, you will be required to return and pay for more treatments to enhance the look and keep yourself looking your best. All cosmetic fillers are temporary, so you will not find any product that lasts for longer than a year or two, at best. The longer the result, the more expensive the product will be, as well. Botox generally costs between $300 and $500 depending on how much you need to be injected at each treatment. This is comparable to cosmetic filler costs, so it is not a big decision maker either way.

Botox cosmetic injection costs are similar to other products, which make them very popular. People also like the idea of actually paralyzing the facial muscles as opposed to injecting some form of another chemical compound into their body. However, considering that many fillers are synthetic versions of those things that are naturally produced within your body, it might be a safer option to give them a try. You will need to research all of your options to determine which options are best for your needs.

Botox is actually a safe, reliable product to remove lines and wrinkles from the face. However, it might not be the right solution for everyone. That is why it is important to discuss your options with your doctor before having any therapy or treatment done. Every different type of cosmetic treatment will have its own advantages and disadvantages, and it will be up to you to choose which one best suits your needs based on those elements.

For example, if you want a product that produces faster results, you might need a different treatment than someone who wants a product that produces longer lasting results, and so on. It all boils down to having the right information and taking the time to find what works for you.
