Getting over someone, after the relationship between you and that person can prove to be a very difficult task. Sometimes it's a quick process; even sometimes it can take months, sometimes years. There is a part of you that still hasn't let go of the past, remembering the events that happened that haunt you. Getting over your ex is not always the easiest thing, so here are some methods to consider to aid you in getting over your ex.
Don't feel that your ex is someone to idolize, because in reality she's no less important than anyone else that you know. Try to avoid longing to answer a call from your ex or spend time waiting for some form of contact, this is only wasting your time and making things harder on you. Look at it this way: since the relationship has ended, you need not feel as if your ex is some divine being, to which you must bend to. You are your own person and understand that you are stronger than that. Just because of feelings you may have for that person, doesn't mean that you should treat them specially.
Help yourself by trying to understand that you and your ex won't be together. In this situation, many tend to feel that their only goal now is to wait and to try to forge a new relationship, when the other person isn't there at all. You need to understand that your ex doesn't have feelings for you now, and after understanding this, you can begin the healing process. A good thing to think over is that whatever your ex did to you, will most likely happen to others and come back to them in the long run. So make a smile from that.
Avoid making any form of contact with this person, or anyone that you know is friends of that person. Keep yourself from crying for this person, and don't do anything in spite of it, like getting drunk, writing your ex something, etc. Realize your ex's resistance to your requests to get back together as a sign that you need to get over this. Realize that once you're independent, your ex can come find you and beg for you if they see it fit. Being strong will give you the advantage in the long run.
Find a way to vent about things, call a close friend or write things down. Get your angers out or your sorrows, because once you do this it will be much easier to let go. It is certain that this will make you feel better.
Disassociate yourself with anybody you know has contact with your ex, for at least the time being while you're in the process of getting over your ex. Look to your old friends that have always been there for you and if necessary; find new places to hang out for now. Over time you will be able to talk to your ex's friends and regain the friendships with them.
Remember that this process takes time, but is necessary. Theses steps will make getting over your ex much easier. Hopefully you are able to successfully get over your ex and make a new friendship with them, but the most important part is to be strong and be self sufficient. All of these things will definitely be helpful to you in the long run.
