A vitamin is basically described as a primary ingredient that the human body needs to help grow and stay physically strong and less likely to become ill.

By reading through this article you will comprehend the elements for each vitamin and I am hoping to give you a better insight into the main 4 vitamins that are a basic part of a healthy and prosperous life. 1909 was the year when the very first vitamin was discovered and the last one to be discovered was back in 1941. There are a total of 13 varities of vitamins, these are divided into water and fat soluble vitamins. To distinguish between the two, fat soluble vitamins are stored away in the human body and only need to be taken periodically, apart from water soluble vitamins that are normally part of a planned diet as they don't get stored in the body. Listed below in section, you will notice numerous paragraphs on the main 4 vitamins that some of you will be common with, and here you will discover how each vitamin works and what the advantages of taking them are for you.

The A Factor

The very first of the vitamins to be uncovered was Vitamin A which is also known as Retinol. Vitamin A was discovered back as early as 1909 in cod liver oil and can now be found in many food types. Many of those are meat orientated such as turkey, chicken and pork nevertheless if your a vegetarian don't worry! Vitamin A can also be found in the likes of butter. Vitamin A has many benefits that consist of helping your vision, strengthening your immune system and commonly maintaining and improving your body to a high fitness level. Taking in more vitamins than you need can lead to a disease called Hypervitaminosis A which can then cause liver damage and osteoporosis.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is another primary vitamin that is a fundamental part in keeping the body healthy . First discovered in 1912 in lemons, Vitamin C is perhaps one of the most noted vitamin out there with traces in most major fruit produce such as lemons and oranges. Vitamin C takes effect internally within your body in shielding cells and keeping them in a good physical shape, and helping the body take in iron from the food that you eat. Vitamin C can't be stored in the body and as a result it falls into one of the water soluble vitamins so you will need to take it on a daily basis.

The D Factor

Last but not least is the third of our 4 main vitamins, Vitamin D, which was discovered at the end of World War I back in 1918. A lot of people generally match this vitamin with fish products like cod and herring. However Vitamin D can also be found in such foods as milk and cereal grains, and can even be absorbed by time spent in the sun. The benefits of Vitamin D can consist of a radiant white smile as it controls the calcium and phosphate in your body which in addition strengthens the bones in your body. With every advantage there comes a disadvantage where a vitamin deficiency can lead to some very serious problems which include the likes of schizophrenia, cancer and rickets. By taking too much vitamin E you will most likely suffer the same kind of affects as Vitamin A with a disease called Hypervitaminosis D with side effects such as sickness, diarrhea and fatigue.

Information on Vitamin E

Finally, Vitamin E which was the latest of our main 4 vitamins to be discovered, 13 years after Vitamin A and 4 years after Vitamin D in a source of wheat germ oil. Vitamin E is mainly found in peanuts, asparagus and seeds. The recommended dosage of this vitamin can help protect your body by acting as an antioxidant that will help to fend off any illnesses that can affect your immune system and help to fight off illnesses and other general hazards that can threaten your health. Overdosing on this vitamin could be a serious health risk and you could be looking at a chronic disease such as lung cancer.
