Experimental Drug Set to End the Reign of Acne

A new drug, with the codename SMT D002 is now being tested for its sole effect on the human body the rapid and progressive drying of the skin. This secret drug, which is not yet in mass production, is still in the hands of medical researchers and microbiologists at a medical and research facility in Oxfordshire. This drug, which has been produced to take care of another unrelated medical condition, has been showing immediate and surprising effectiveness in the treatment of acne.

How Does It Work?

The new drug dries the skin by aborting one of the most dreaded natural processes that lead to the manifestation of mild to severe forms of acne around the world sebum. The oily substance sebum, a simple yet effective means of naturally moisturizing the human skin is unfortunately the main culprit in the skin condition known as acne.

With little defense against particulates, dirt and excess sebum production, the human skin often suffers nearly immediately after the production of the excess sebum. The pores of the skin clog and the small channels that produce the sebum are inflamed. But the body was not designed to stop simply because of inflammation, and so the sebum keeps coming.

The new drug halts the production, and allows the anaerobic bacteria deep in the pores to run out of food. Eventually, the waste products of the anaerobic bacteria slowly run out as well, and the colonies of these deadly microscopic critters dissipate. The inflammation soon peters out and skin loses its redness.

Gradually, the breaks in the human skin slowly grow back together, and bumps and ridges that are characteristic of acne pale. The skin, so to speak, has been cured of acne. People are banking for this yet unnamed drug because it has no side effects.

Its equivalent drug, which we will not name here, has been touted to have produced mental disturbances in the individuals who use them. It is said that the side effect, which affects the serotonin levels of the users of the drug, pushed hundreds to take their own lives. It seems that the acne treatment came at such a great price.

Though the large multinational conglomerate has been quick to defend its own product, people are already shaking their heads. Suicide as repayment for no acne is too much a price to ask, and too much of a risk to take. People who are tired of topical creams and oral antibiotics that are slow to work can cross their fingers that something as effective as the SMT D002 comes their way.

Got Milk?

In other news, researchers from Britain (actually, these researchers are dermatologists) are saying the milk probably has something to do with acne, since a recent survey curiously linked milk with the existence of acne in teenagers.

Full cream milk seems to be the culprit, since teenagers who preferred blander skim milks were 50 less likely to get the acne from these particular dairy products. Though the result of the survey was interesting, there are no conclusive or empirical proofs yet that would prove the key role of milk in making the acne spots appear.
