One of the hardest kinds of budgets are referred to as a zero budget. These are hard to keep up with because you have to put in all of your earnings for the month and then you have to list all of the bills you pay even if you have to divide something that you pay once a year, if it is easier to pay by the month. You will have to figure the money you will be spending for food and make sure that you do not go over. If you do, then you will not be able to do a zero budget. You will have to make sure that you pay each and every bill that you have each month and do not miss anything.
If you have children in school, then this zero budget might go out the window because school expenses are forever coming up at the last minute and telling you that they need something from you for your child. If you still want to have this zero budget, then you will need to make sure that you put extra money aside a month to cover all of these little surprises. You will also need to decide what to set aside in case of someone having an accident because you will have to pay for all of the costs first and then you will be reimbursed from your insurance.
To do a zero budget, it is easier to have a check that is for the same amount each time you receive one. This will work for people that are on a fixed income as their income is the same each and every month. Most of the people with a fixed income would be the elderly and these people usually do not have to care for children. In some cases today, we have grandparents raising their grandchildren and paying for all of their expenses.
Most people do not even try to do a zero budget because of all the little problems that will show up during the month to put a big dent in a budget and these will send a budget out the window, up the river, or even to the moon. You really need to have a budget in place to tell you where your money is going and for what, so make one for your lifestyle and try to stay with it or as close as you can. Even if you can mot keep your budget balanced out every month, it is still better to at least try to keep one and do the best you can.
