What man can resist the lure of a woman fluttering her thick, long eyelashes at him in a flirtatious way? The come-hither look that works to attract the man of your dreams is one that women the world over would kill for. All things being equal, it is a common observation that the woman who has more attractive eyes (well enhanced with lovely longer lashes) wins hands down in the deadly competition with other women for the intended soulmate.
But what would you do if your eyelashes were short, sparse, or both, or totally nonexistent? Would you just give up the fight, and allow the other woman the spoils of the victor? Or would you try some other way to win the man of your dreams? A cooking contest, perhaps, where you could show your prowess in whipping up dishes to feed an army in the shortest time possible?
Nope. Fight the competition on equal ground. There are ways to end up with longer, thicker eyelashes that you can outflutter the competition with...
Get mascara. The good old fashioned, traditional way to make whatever lashes you have longer, and thicker. Cheap, and a bit tricky to apply, and the mascara may run if you cry or get wet, so be careful.
Get false eyelashes. These are cheap, easy to apply, and you can change the styles, colors and length to suit the mood of the moment. A different color for every day of the week, more sober styles for the office, and party styles for the night or weekends when you really want to let your hair down! However you have to make sure the false eyelashes don't let you down by dropping off at the wrong time.
Get eyelash extensions. Basically making mountains out of molehills, but you can claim they are your own (at least, they look like your own). Eye lash extensions demand that you have your own eyelashes in the first place, because you need them to form the base which the beautician can glue the extensions to. Yes, you do need somebody trained in the art of eye lash extensions to do this well for you, and it takes about two hours or more to apply. Eye lash extensions are also definitely more expensive, and you will need a maintenance program as well.
Grow your own eyelashes. The latest development in the quest for longer lashes. There is a new discovery, a drug called bimatoprost, which comes in the form of eyedrops, and when applied nightly to the upper eyelid margin where your lashes grow, will, in the course of 8 short weeks, start the growth of thicker and longer lashes. This drug goes by the brand name of Latisse. Side effects are minimal.
