When you seek private hypnotherapy services, you want to benefit as much as possible. One strong way to contribute to your success is your mental approach.
Your hypnotherapist is the trained guide who uses certain tools to help your subconscious retrain your habits. But he (or she) cannot help you without your participation and willpower. So decide beforehand to have a relaxed accepting attitude toward it. During those hypnotic levels, your conscious mind will become less critical of the instructions and suggestions so you can get the life changes you want.
And please don't try to analyze the instructions of your hypnotherapist because that would create the opposite of what you want. Just as muscle tension opposes body relaxation, the mental work of rationalizing and analyzing will work against your benefit during the session. Adopt an accepting attitude so you can relax and go deeper into the hypnotic state to benefit much more.
How I Learned to Deal With Being Hypnotized My First Time...
I had already been certified to do hypnosis years ago, but it was in 2001 when I decided to experience being hypnotized by another professional for multiple sessions. Up to that point, I had never been the "client" or the "subject." So I contacted a hypnotherapist I trusted.
But just before the session I found myself getting anxious. Hypnosis? Not a problem. The hypnotherapist? Highly recommended and friendly. Still I thought I would ruin it. Would I be too focused on what she was doing? Would my rational side prevent positive results?
I found myself asking: "Do you really want to do this or not? Don't go ahead with this unless you're willing to follow instructions. You're getting in the way of your success. You like to be in control during hypnosis but you can't do that now. So just let it happen. Let her be your guide."
Just then I decided to change because I had to. I decided to be the best hypnotic subject she had ever seen. She had to have a chance to do her work. I was going to follow her instructions and just adopt the right attitude. Even when I wasn't sure of what to do next, I was going to relax and not doubt her.
I did just that. And... I had a great hypnosis session!
What can you summarize from this? Before your next hypnotherapy session you can do these things:
* Sit down and give yourself some positive self-talk,
* Decide to have a nonjudgmental positive attitude,
* Follow all instructions of the hypnosis professional without any over-analyzing,
* Relax your mind so your body can follow.
Note: Don't worry that you'd ever go too far during hypnotherapy because your moral compass will naturally keep you from doing anything wrong.
