Most medical transcription does require training to understand the various jargon used by physicians, but after the initial training the work can be done at home, at your leisure and returned on a deadline. If you have a certain talent, consider freelancing with that talent. Freelancing is hiring yourself out on a per-job basis, and can be great if you have skills that can be done at home. Many freelancers are graphic designers, web designers, writers and consultants that are not currently working with one firm exclusively, but hire themselves out. Freelancing may not be for you if you are looking for a steady stream of income that is always the same, but it's a great way to pick up extra work here and there if you have in demand skills.
