If a person does not have body art themselves, then they usually know at least one person who does have body art. Although body art used to be associated mainly with acts of rebellion, now body art is more about self expression than anything else. So, it only makes sense that just as some people love their body art, others are not so thrilled with it.
So, these are the people who need to start thinking about the various tattoo removal methods that are available to them. There are many different reasons why a person would choose to get rid of the tattoos that they have. Sometimes the tattoo represents something about their past that they would rather forget (like an ex relationship). Or, perhaps the tattoo was not done in the way that the person had wanted.
Whatever the reason, tattoo removal is serious business. It is not as if the person had gotten one of those stick on tattoos that you could remove simply by washing it off. When a tattoo is applied, the upper layers of the skin are punctured by the tattoo needle, which at the same time injects the area with ink. The ink bonds to the skin molecules, and this action is what is meant to make the tattoo permanent.
Before medical technology had advanced to the point that it now has, there were not many things that a person could do in order to get rid of their tattoo. Some people simply tried to forget about their annoying tattoo by covering it up with clothing. Other people decided it would be a good idea to simply get a new tattoo over the old one.
This being said, there are currently two main methods of tattoo removal. The first method involves applying a chemical solution known as TCA to the skin. Although the TCA should only be obtained from a dermatological professional, the thing that makes this removal method rather controversial is the fact that it is done at home by the person who wants to get rid of their tattoo.
The TCA solution is applied in a gentle manner to the skin with a q tip, and the person is supposed to let it sit on the skin for a certain amount of time before washing it off. The TCA is meant to break up the skin particles that have bonded to the tattoo ink, while at the same time dissolving the top layers of the skin to promote the growth of new skin tissue. However, it is important to note that this removal process can only be done once every few weeks in order to allow the skin to heal properly.
Then, of course, there is laser tattoo removal. This is a process that many people choose because it is done ns a medical setting, and by a dermatologist. This procedure involves using the laser heat to erase the ink clad skin molecules, while the laser light stimulates new tissue growth. This procedure will also have to be done over a period of several weeks and even, in some cases, several months.
