Usually, if you need a package shipped between the hours of 6 PM and 6 AM, it is considered to be after hours.
In the Chicago area, there are several courier services to choose from so it shouldn't be too hard to find a company with reasonable surcharges. There are also some differences in the way various companies handle surcharges that you should be aware of. As a matter of fact, there are even some couriers that do not have surcharges at all. Obviously, if you anticipate having to business after hours, this is not the courier you want to use.
