If your relationship is over, you may be asking yourself "how do I get over my ex and move on?" Breaking up is hard to do but getting over your ex may be even harder. It may be easier to get past a short term relationship, but if you have been together for a long time it may seem almost impossible to get past your feelings for your ex. There are ways to get over your ex and move on in life, fast.
First, it is time to get rid of memories. Look through your house for things that remind you of your ex. Pictures and other memories need to be thrown away or at least packed up and out of sight. Any gifts that you received from your ex also needs to go. You may not want to get rid of things that you two bought together like a dog or other animal, but trinkets and knick-knacks need to be removed.
You do not have to empty your house bare if you and your ex purchased a lot or all of your furniture and other home furnishings together. Get rid of the things that remind you of your relationship and have the most memories. You know the items that make you hurt or cry when you use or look at them.
If you bought the couch together and you like sitting on it, but the picture of the two you and the candle that your ex gave you makes you sad. Keep the couch and throw out the picture and candle. If you feel bad about throwing the items away "just in case," then store them out of sight if it makes it easier for you.
If you are trying to get rid of things and just cannot bring yourself to do it, thinking of your ex's bad qualities and the arguments you had should help. Thinking about the bad times should help you throw out, and I mean, "throw out," the items that need to go.
You may not be ready for this step if thinking of your ex and your past relationship makes you extremely upset or makes you cry. The quicker you get control of yourself and take the "cleaning out step," the quicker you will be able to get over your ex. Most of us can make a long list of dislikes for our ex's and your list will help you get past him/her and move on.
Another way to get over your ex quickly is to go out more. When you are going out, you are more likely to find someone else to date. Dating for fun can help you get past your ex and move on with life. You may have a problem dating because you think that you are still in love with your ex. You may very well still be in love with your ex, but you will be dating for fun and not to find a serious relationship.
Going out with friends and an occasional date will keep you from getting depressed and feeling sorry for yourself. It is time to have fun and do things you like to do that make you happy. Being sad and sitting around waiting for your ex to have a change of heart will get you nowhere. It is time to move on and get the most out of life.
In order to get over your ex quickly, you need to have a well thought out plan and follow it. These are just a few of the many steps to help you complete that plan.
