The internet in modern day is part of everyone's life, at some time or another everyone would have accessed the internet. The internet has basically transformed the way we live our lives, it is now much easier to communicate and stay in such with family and friends.
The internets first inception date was way back on the 13th March 1989 when a very clever computer scientist known as Sir Tim Berners-Lee, at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, popularly known as CERN Laboratory, displayed a document containing means and methods by which particles physics scientists could easily share and find out essential electronics documents.
The document basically invented the Hyper Text Mark-up Language or more better known as HTML, the internet did have some critics but the 90s and on has seen a huge boom in online activity and it is probably one of the most successful forms of practically anything.
In this day and age we can now find out any information we want via search engines, we can connect with long lost friends, find a date and get your shopping delivered to your door. The internet has advanced at tremendous speeds, so let's have a look at a few sites that have made the biggest impact to the web.
Google
Google is the biggest and most advanced search engine in the world, the site allows users to search on information they need or a product they want to buy and get delivered the most relevant results in an instant.
EBay
EBay caused a massive shakeup when they launched as their technology was so innovative. The online auction site is now probably the largest in the world and the company has also gone on to invest into other projects as well.
Facebook
At the moment we are currently in the midst of a social boom, social sites are growing at incredible speeds and Facebook which is relatively new has shaped the path of social sites. The company is now worth billions of pounds and companies such as Microsoft have purchased percentages.
There are also a huge variety of other sites that have helped brand the internet, such as Amazon, Play, Digg and many more. It really makes you wonder where we will be in another twenty years time, what will the technologies be like? What sites will be around. Who knows how technology will develop? One thing that is a fact though is that the internet is going to become a lot more real and interactive.
