When your local fire officials tell you of a potential wildfire and tell you to leave the area, just listen and leave. Always have a bag packed for occasions like this that you can grab on your way out the door. If you have time try to shut off all of your utilities at the main switch, especially your gas. Doing this might keep this fire from blowing your home apart. If there are strong winds, it would feed this fire as long as the winds are there. Most of these types of fires are started by an accident or by arson. If it has been very dry in your area, you will need to use extra care when doing anything that involves the use of fire so you will not be the cause of a wildfire getting started.
If you are burning something in your yard ,you might want to find out how hard the wind is blowing before you start this fire. At the same time, you will want to call your local officials to find out if there is a burning ban in force. Even a small gust of wind can cause your fire to travel and before you know it, this small fire could get out of hand.
It is our responsibility to try to keep our fires from becoming problems to us, our neighbors, and our cities. It is usually the best thing, especially with the removal of garbage, to take all of this to your local dump and let them worry about getting rid of this stuff. Because in most of this garbage we throw away has containers that will explode when in a fire. When these are in these fires it will send this flames in all directions. Many cities will pick up your yard brush and tree debris so it is not necessary for you to risk burning it yourself. This will be smarter than putting your home and others at risk of catching fire by accident.
