Abu Dhabi Airports Corporation and Arik Air have announced the launch of Arik Air flights, Nigeria’s principal worldwide airline, to Abu Dhabi Worldwide Air-port.
The airline will start operations on November 29, this year with 3 direct weekly flights connecting the United arab emirates capital to Lagos. The new route will be leaving from Abu Dhabi to arrive in Lagos, nigeria using an Airbus A340-500 with a capacity of 237 seats.
The advanced cabin is fitted with full flat bed seats and an advanced inflight amusement system with 17-inch LCD's.
Flights by Arik Air from West African international airfields to Abu Dhabi International Air port in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will increase tourism and economic expansion, Arik Air’s group chief executive, Michael Arumemi-Ikhide, said on Tuesday in Lagos.
The airline will begin operations on the new route from November 29 with three direct weekly flights connecting the UAE center to Lagos, he said.
“We look forward to further expansion on the route between West Africa and Abu Dhabi flyers and big business " he said in a announcement.
Arumemi-Ikhide added that Arik Air was happy to offer its consumers with a quicker connection between Abu Dhabi and the West African territory.
“Abu Dhabi has continued to turn into an increasingly significant hub for business and tourism.
“We look forward to working with the Abu Dhabi Airports Company on further developing our services to flyers from the Abu Dhabi International Airport,” he said.
Flights would be leaving Abu Dhabi every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday on 8:00 am local time, to arrive in Lagos at 12:15 pm, using an Airbus A340-500 with a 237-seat capacity, the announcement said.
It said that the flights would also offer passengers from the Abu Dhabi International Air port, a variety of latest travel options and flights from Lagos through Ghana, Senegal and Cote d’Ivoire.
The announcement quoted Mr James Bennett, chief executive officer at Abu Dhabi Airports Company as welcoming the development.
“Abu Dhabi Airports Company is delighted to welcome Arik Air as the first West African service provider to fly to Abu Dhabi International.
“The capital’s airport operator is working meticulously with an assortment of airways to hold up their development initiatives that will in due course benefit Abu Dhabi International Air-port travellers with more choices,” the declaration said.
