Almost half the population knows that from time to time, skin tags appear on them. These can be quite annoying and usually are harmless to most people. Skin tag removal products are thus sought. Scientifically known as acrochordon, also called subcutaneous skin tags, they can be quite annoying to people for a number of reasons. Raised up against the skin, they are usually flesh colored.
Other areas where they are common is the groin, edge of the nose and the armpits. For some people they might turn up on the eyelids and can be either smooth or rough. A lot of people want these removed immediately because they consider them painful and irritating when shaving or unsightly.
The most common people to have these tend to be those who are overweight, pregnant or have diabetes. Often, many think that there might be a genetic link so it is important to check that out. Although some people go down the route of surgery, a lot of the time this isn't necessary and can cause a lot of stress. Other times, however, one can find a range of skin tag removal products which will help.
Because some consider them to be unsightly, usually products are considered rather than surgery. Products are a much better option than choosing to go under the knife. They are also easier to use and can be applied in the home. Essential oils are contained in some of them. These will help to "dry out" the core of the tag itself. It will then disappear naturally by itself over a couple of weeks although some say this happens a lot faster.
There are other creams which one can apply that will allow them to vanish in a week or so. Usually this means attacking the core of the protrusion itself, and killing it that way. It will make for much smoother skin and is usually less painful. Such skin tags can be irritating to have, and many people find them somewhat painful at times.
Another home method is one which a few might not be comfortable with. Instead of going into surgery, it is possible to get some dental floss and tie the skin tag up that way. Then, when the supply of blood is cut off, one simply uses a scissors to remove it. This can be painful and is not for the squeamish, although if done properly the pain can be dulled. This isn't a method for everyone, however.
One could try a variety of other home remedies which are available. Mixing together baking soda and castor oil, is one of the methods. This forms a paste, and then is applied to the area which is affected. This will usually get rid of the tag after two weeks, if it is applied thrice daily.
Whatever one chooses, it is important to look up all the information. Sometimes, depending on the severity of the case, one might want to consult a surgeon. Some individuals will swear by cosmetic surgery.
