Unfortunately debt is just something that almost everyone will have in their life. It doesn't matter if it's a simple car payment, school loan or something bigger like credit card debt. What is most important is how you are going to handle it. For most people they just ignore their debt hoping it goes away on its own. Then, it ends up turning into this giant monster they have hidden away. You aren't the only one that sees what you owe and what you have paid off. Maybe you tried getting a new car or a new house or a loan and they denied you - well your debt is exactly why!
Lenders are allowed to look at your past credit history and if they see something they don't like, they won't grant you the loan. Most of you that are in debt know that this isn't something that will just go away. Not only can it ruin your life financially but it can ruin your health. Having something like debt in the back of your mind all the time causes constant stress and strife.
When it comes to a lot of debt, some people might just as well consider bankruptcy as an answer to all their problems. Honestly this is NOT something I would suggest. One thing I would suggest is debt settlement or debt reduction programs or companies. These companies have consultants which will work to help lower your total debt by use of mediation. By mediation I mean that they will talk with the people you owe money to on your behalf.
They calculate the sum you can resolve your debt for and provide a payment plan in order to amend your credit as you pay off your debt. Their methods can help salvage your credit as well as save you money in the long run, whereas, with bankruptcy, you have to wait years for that to be cleared from your record (seven years to be exact). Bankruptcy also is a bad option because it can stop you from being authorized for buying an automobile, house or other things which loans are needed for like schooling or opening/buying a business.
Bankruptcy is like a black spot on your semi-permanent record it can keep you from buying a home or even renting for that matter. Recently I was trying to rent a house in FL and more often than not the Realtors or owners will ask one main question - how is your credit? Personally I don't think it should matter all that much. But they don't see you "working" it off. All they see is that black spot!
Debt settlement and reduction is the best choice for you because it gives you the chance to fix whatever happened in your past to make you have such bad credit. When you want a way to save your credit and look out for your futures best interest - debt settlement is without a doubt the best choice for your path to the future!
