A baby shower should be a memorable event for the mother to be, and everyone else involved in this special occasion. In previous years it was looked at as a woman s tradition, but today we are seeing more and more baby showers involving men as well. The first step in planning an amazing baby shower is location.
The best place to have a shower is preferably close to the home of the unborn guest of honor. Having the shower close to home allows for an easier transportation for the large amounts of gifts received at the party by the expecting mother. Some people have baby showers in their own home, but for an interactive, festive party with great games, a large area like a reception hall suits the event a little better.
Besides choosing an appropriate location the most important next step is sending out invitations. Any store that carries invitations usually has a very cute assortment of baby shower invites, commonly in the shape of a diaper, or even a pacifier. If you go the route of making your own you are going to want to make them cute, and gender specific if you happen to know the gender of the baby to be. A great idea for the invite is putting in a catchy poem to encourage the guests to bring either diapers or books, either of which would be helpful to a new parent.
The decorations for the baby shower are pretty self explanatory and also need to be baby themed. Since this is just a one time event, most party planners would recommend going to the dollar store to purchase the decorations since they have a large selection that would suit the needs of any party, and all at a low price.
At the baby shower games are usually the key to it all. Some common games include, Baby bingo, where the guests fill out blank bingo cards with potential gifts, crossing them off as the mother opens the gifts, or even going as far as guessing how many inches around the mommy to be is at this stage of maternity. Each game should include prizes such as candles or picture frames, something little, but yet a nice gesture for attending.
Most baby showers of any sort also have a party favor for the guests. The most common route to go with the baby shower is chocolate cigars, or even the bubble gum versions of cigars that can be found in almost any candy store. But almost anything baby or gender related can be used, flex that imagination. By tying a cute little ribbon with a thank you note on the party favor you have yourself one amazing baby shower.
Another good baby shower idea is to purchase the thank you cards in advance and place the envelope on the table in front of the people so they can fill out their own name and address, and a very flustered mother to be does not have to worry about remembering who was there!
