It might not be that difficult for some of us to remember when the most commonly used form of communication was the telephone. We thought we were really in the space age then when we could just pick up a receiver and call anywhere in the world day or night. It could be a little inconvenient at times if you went even further back and had to share a party lines with others. Then before you knew it, we had call waiting, caller identification, three way calling, answering services built right in the telephone, and the the best of all was the cordless rechargeable phone.
It seems funny to think that now some people are doing away with their home telephone service and not just because of the great cell phones that we now also enjoy. The home computer, laptop, and blackberry has become the new age form of communication by so many. With all of the things that we can do just by having a home computer, it almost makes the need to telephone from home a thing of the past.
It is so easy to instant message with friends and family using your computer or laptop. In most cases you can even use your web camera to see each other while you are typing back and forth or you can even speak verbally now. Many people are finding it convenient and cheaper to have their home phone service run through their Internet connection. It is amazing all of the things you can do with a computer that helps make our daily lives so much easier.
Families love being able to send a quick email when they know you are not able to come to the phone because you are at work or elsewhere. The message will be there waiting for them along with any attachments you might wish to send with it like paperwork, documents, or photos. In some cases it has even put a crimp in the postal service because it is so easy to send papers and other information using email.
One of the most popular items for home computers today is a printer that also has a copier, scanner, and a fax machine all in one unit. This allows those that work from home to have an entire office set up right on their desk and they are not even that difficult to understand and begin using.
The computer age has definitely changed the lives of most people in some way or another. Just think, thirty years ago we thought we were so hot then, just wait and see what technology can do for us in the years to come.
