How important is it to have the perfect body and to what measures will people go to in order to achieve this? How much pressure are women put under by the media to measure up to Hollywood models and the perfect body beautiful?
We are all subjected everyday to images of models and celebrities who have achieved a size zero and are now portrayed as being perfect, but as a woman, is size zero how we are supposed to be, many women strive to alter their bodies in vain attempts to recreate what appears to be the norm in Hollywood, sometimes to their own detriment.
Breast Augmentation, a procedure to enhance or enlarge the breasts, more commonly known as a boob job, is just one of the procedures which women feel they have to have as their breasts are far from what is seen as normal these days.
Breast Augmentation is an actual surgical procedure, meaning the patient has to undergo surgery and full anaesthetic to have implants inserted underneath the existing breast tissue in order to enlarge the appearance of the breast. Once completed there is a period of healing which is required. Opting to have breast implants also means that in roughly 10 to 15 years the implants will have to be changed, undergoing the knife again.
After surgery the breasts appear fuller and more voluptuous, but are often easily recognisable as fake as the appearance of a rounded form can be easily seen. This may be how women especially young girls want to appear, and for many years the popularity of this procedure has grown immensely.
Years ago cosmetic surgery on the breasts was primarily performed on those women who had suffered illness resulting in breast removal (mastectomy), recreating the breast gave women back their femininity, this quickly evolved to become a procedure which the likes of the rich and famous could afford in attempts to gain the perfect bikini body, nowadays girls as young as 12 years of age have been known to go under the knife in pursuit of perfection or a career in the modelling world.
Breast Augmentation if properly performed by qualified surgeons is a relatively normal procedure without too many hic cups; however as with normal breasts there is a chance that after surgery breasts can be different sizes.
With all this said not everyone pursues surgery to achieve model vital statistics, some women don't develop properly during puberty leaving them feeling flat chested or lop sided, in these situations having breast augmentation sugery can often correct more than the physical issue, it can also help towards solving psychologically issues especially if that person has been the brunt of taunting due to physical appearance. Other women may opt for breast surgery to correct their appearance after sever weight loss or having children, although many times this will involve lifting the breasts to remove the appearance of sagging.
All women are different, there is no such thing as a perfect body, which is the main point which should be remembered when thinking about surgery. There is no harm in wanting something better as long as proper steps are taken to make sure that choosing surgery is right for the individual and performed by fully qualified surgeons.
