Promoting your expertise on a small budget is possible.
Take a look at the experts in your niche. One thing they have in common is they teach through the content they provide. The content may be in writing, it may be in teleseminars on the phone or over the computer, it may be on podcasts, or on videos. Whatever their content, it has enabled these coaches, consultants and business owners, like yourself, to make money and take their business to another level.
You can do the same to attract more clients and customers and build more relationships with your resources and prospects. The first step is to take the time and give some serious thinking to your new business. This will save you much time in the long run.
Be realistic about what you want to achieve and how quickly you will be able to achieve your goals. If you work full time at a job and want to start an online coaching business for losing weight, you won't be able to achieve your goals as quickly as someone who has all day to build his business. If you have kids at home, regardless of age, your time is more limited than someone who does not live with school age children.
Then assess your situation. Consider how much money do you have to invest in this business? How much time can you devote to doing your business? Who do you know that can help you with this business? What are the tools you need in place to help you get your business off the ground? For example, do you belong to enough civic groups or business networking groups to get your name out to the community?
Based on all you have learned about yourself, organize and set your goals for yourself and for your business. Be creative and expand your thinking outside of your comfort zone. You may even want to set a calendar of when you expect to achieve certain goals to help you avoid the urge of doing everything at one time. You will only get lost trying to achieve everything in one swoop and you are likely to be discouraged and quit. Prioritize what needs to be done. Create to-do lists and Google for more research when needed.
Then just do it. You do not have to be perfect. Do not even wait to be perfect. Just get your name out to your prospect and referral sources.
Large companies that produce major products want to dominate their market. You are a solopreneur and you can do very well by carefully selecting a segment of a market in which you can realistically become an expert. In fact, the more you specialize, the more your market will see the value of your services or your products because you are speaking directly to them and their problems. They see you as having the answers.
When you want to target your best prospects and create a message always, always imagine that you are talking to one person who is sitting next to you in a coffee shop. Think about it. Only one person at a time will be reading your message or listening to your message. Speaking to your ideal client or customer will help you create a more natural and sharp focus.
Consider how you can specialize your products or services to the unmet needs of your ideal clients. When you do provide them with solutions, giving them exactly what they want, they are more likely to be loyal to you.
Loyalty lowers expenses. It takes far less energy and money to inspire a long time customer to purchase another product than it does to reach out to a new prospect, develop a relationship, and maybe eventually turn them into one of your loyal fans.
