More often than not, you may be unaware of many law violations and understanding how to read them. It is always good idea to be able to assess whether it has been really broken, or you've been simply dragged into legal trouble for no reason.
It may sound pretty silly but basically the criminal statuses segregate the crimes as per required acts as well as state of mind of the accused person. This is where lawyers and attorneys come into picture, and make the difference in the outcome of the case. For instance, consider a person is convicted of commercial burglary, which happens to be one of the most common criminal offenses off late. The attorney needs to prove that the accused person has entered the structure (which is the commercial store in this case) intentionally, but the structure was property of another person, and the accused person had entered the structure with the intention of committing a grand theft, petty or just a felony, anything for that matter.
Now, if the lawyer defending the accused person in this scenario, somehow manages to prove that though the accused person entered the structure that belonged to the store owner, he did not intend to commit a theft, and it was just co-incidence and some weird circumstances, which forced everyone to believe in the fact that he was trying to shoplift things or had wrong intentions.
Let's consider the name of the accused person is Mark, and he entered the store with a bag-pack, pushed the guard aside, and was caught inside a departmental store, which belonged to Shaun, then just these courses of events are not enough to prove that Mark had the intentions to rob the store. Mark's attorney can prove that the guard mistreated Mark and used irrational language, which infuriated Mark and led to the outburst. And Mark was simply carrying the empty bag-pack for some other reason, and Mark's attorney can easily save him from any legal penalties. While on the other hand, Shaun's attorney must be able to furnish necessary evidences to prove that Mark's intentions were only to "rob" the store, and he must be penalized for the same.
In real life, even the silliest mistake can be caught by attorneys, and the biggest ones can be defended by them as well. Remember, if you're stuck in some legal proceedings, only a smart and capable attorney can save the day for you.
