The pancake meal can be much more then just sitting around the table and eating. It can be a dish full of fun and interesting moments. How to do that? Forget about cooking standard round pancakes the old-fashion way. Try to be creative. Walk into the kitchen with playful mindset and start exploring all the things you can do with the everyday food.
There are some really easy to make and interesting pancake ideas. Read the following suggestions which can help you turn your usual pancake meal into an extra ordinary dish.
Designed pancakes
Do you want to make a pancake shaped as a Mickey Mouse’s face? Or, perhaps you prefer something simple, such as, stars or hearts. Well, you don’t have to go to cooking classes to have that kind of pancakes. You can do it by yourself. Prepare the pancake batter and fill the plastic bottle with it. Take the bottle and press the batter into the fiery and oiled grill. For the creation of the Mickey Mouse’s face, you’ll need one large cycle (for the head). And two smaller cycles (for the ears). The size of the ears has to be almost identical.
Maybe you’ll need a few tries to master this technique, before you are able to create the perfect version of Mickey’s face.
If this is too complicated for you, try to use metal cutters for shaping the pancakes. The cutters can make really nice shapes, such as star, flower or heart. Cooking shaped pancakes using these items is extremely simple. Place the item on the griddle and fill it with pancake batter. Remove the item when the pancake is set and ready to turn. Then try to decorate the pancakes. If you lack decorating knowledge, try some cooking game. It can give you an idea about different pancakes decorations, such as strawberries, whipped cream or powdered sugar.

If you don’t like the different shapes or they do not fit your style, you can make easy decorations with fruit. Try to make fruit face on each pancake. For an example, you can draw your kid’s favorite cartoon character by simply arranging the fruit on the pancakes. Try to use half-strawberry for the eyes. One blueberry can be placed in the middle, as a nose. For the mouth try using orange or melon slice. Use any fruit you like, as long as it looks as part of the face.
Pancake sandwiches
Start the cooking process by making the pancake batter a little thicker then regular. After that, use the pancakes as bread slices to make pancake sandwiches. Fill the sandwiches with savory or sweet ingredients. If you prefer salty flavor, try to make filling from scrambled or fried eggs with cheese and bacon. For sweet fillings you can use apples mixed with cinnamon and sugar. It’s a really good sandwich filling.
Remember that kids are not attracted only by the taste of the pancakes. They want to see a little rainbow in their plates. Kids simply adore colorful meals. So, make one for your kid and give him moments of happiness.
