Last night's session was about "what ifs. " Inside my dream, I was an eager 18-year old heading off to college in California, thousands of miles away from my southern Illinois family. As I toured my brand-new campus and dormitory, my heart has been beating fast as my newfound mobility excited me and also the pressures of getting alone overwhelmed me.
It was a new culture, a brand-new society, and a new environment. My typical routine, sayings, and even my wardrobe don't match the "norm, " nevertheless I didn't treatment. I was living the life I always wanted... or so As i thought.
Dreams have a way of bringing your daily life full circle. As i continued to examine my newfound university community, I found carefully placed tidbits from home. The staircase before my dorm room was this also one from my own childhood home. My own room was the same to my daughter's room in your home at our property now. And, my roommates consisted of every student My partner and i advise currently at the student newspaper. *Note: I never said that dreams be the better choice.
Although dreams don't always be the better choice or seem natural, they do help us to position wants and must have into perspective. How I interpret the dream is as much me and what I choose to learn from it is additionally up to everyone.
I woke up reflecting over the "what-ifs" of my life. Should I get gone away to college hundreds of years ago? Should I get pushed myself more to step outside the "norm? " Would I've reached my career goals within a more timely process?
My dream didn't sound right and neither did my reflections. I clearly realized, although, that if we torture ourselves while using the "what-ifs" of lifetime, then we should never move beyond the past and our so-called regrets. Since my dream unveiled, this dreamy Florida life was heavily influenced by the present-time comforts associated with home.
