When a woman gets to be 25 or 30 years old, she typically begins to worry about the effects of aging on the appearance of her skin. No matter what we do, time eventually walks across all our faces, but there are definitely proactive actions we can take to delay the inevitable for as long as possible.
-- Protect your skin from the sun as much as possible. The sun's rays are the number one culprit in the blame for premature skin aging. Sun tan oils and other products designed to "protect" skin from the sun may prevent burning but they will not prevent wrinkles.
A woman should always stay in the shade or, more realistically, use skin care products and make up that offer UV ray protection. People living in high altitude locations such as the Rocky Mountains should take extra precautions against the strength of the sun all year round. Not only will such care decrease the amount of wrinkles a woman will get, it will also help to prevent deadly skin cancers. And by the way: never use tanning beds!
-- Drink, drink, and drink some more. Drinking plenty of liquids, especially clear ones such as water or tea, helps the skin to stay hydrated naturally. Too much coffee is not as healthy, and diet sodas contain chemicals: keep it as simple as possible, but make sure you're getting enough for your climate, especially in the summer.
-- Make sure your skin is getting plenty of vitamins by eating properly. Getting enough fruits and vegetables daily is difficult, but make sure to eat as many as you can. Supplements are also helpful: make sure to get lots of vitamin C via rich sources such as cranberry or sea buckthorn berry products.
-- Give up bad habits such as excess drinking, and especially smoking. We are what we put into our bodies, whether it be food or vices. All toxins that are ingested into us must be excreted in some way or another, and many of the chemicals contained in cigarettes exit through the pores of the skin, wreaking havoc along the way. Women who have been heavy smokers often have severely wrinkled faces by middle age: it's just not worth it.
-- Make sure to hydrate the skin topically twice a day. Using non-drying face washes and natural organic creams greatly benefit a woman's skin and help to prevent premature aging. Facial makeup doesn't do any real harm, but failing to remove it does. Pores need a chance to "breathe" at night in order to help the skin rejuvenate itself overnight. Keep it clean.
