This story is for my family and pals who wonder what it is actually like to undergo a Laser eye vision correction procedure. I've shared my experience with 1 or two co-workers at work that have also had Laser eye surgery performed, and you will discover enough variations to give insight to people who are wanting to select amongst various Laser eye physicians or diverse Lasik centers.
First, my Lasik procedure was booked for four PM within the afternoon, which had been fine with me. 1 of the guidelines for the patient that has just had a Lasik procedure was to go to sleep as soon as possible, in order for the healing process to start as promptly as possible. And commonly by the end of the afternoon I am too tired after working all day to be very nervous. Well, generally anyway.
I had only been there a few minutes when I was called into a room to get ready me for the Laser eye process, and to get instructions (once again!) on ways to care for my eyes once the Lasik eye vision correction has been accomplished. They offered me some Ativan, which can be a mild sedative just to keep me calm through the Lasik eye process. The lasers them selves monitor any head or eye movement and turn themselves off when it occurs, so it isn't that the sedative is for anything aside from psychological reasons. I took it anyway. All of my fellow workers at work also took it, although none of us actually felt any different than we did just before. Apparently it is a Really minor sedative.
My eyes were ready for the Lasik procedure by becoming dosed with eye numbing drops and some sort of medication. I cannot make sure with the other pre-operative actions, as I assume I was trying really hard not to consider either the Laser eye surgery or my eyes. Maybe the sedative was a bit stronger than I imagined it was.
At this point I was escorted into another room for a while, where I sat back, listened to the piped-in music, and awaited my turn inside the Lasik eye operating room. There had been two other folks waiting with me in this room, so apparently my physician had a different setup for his Lasik eye individuals than my colleagues. Both had been alone in their pre-op rooms until they had been escorted in to the area where the Lasik eye process was truly carried out.
As for the Lasik process itself, everybody has similar thoughts from this procedure. Every single of us felt some pressure when the various Laser eye implements were utilised on our eyes, even though there wasn't any genuine discomfort or pain. There was a blurring of vision for the eye getting worked on, but the true sensation was mainly audio - the whirring and clicks of the machine. One of my co-workers also recalls a definite smell, somewhat reminiscent of hair burning. There might have been a small smell for the duration of my Lasik procedure, however it wasn't important enough for my attention to be focused on it.
Following a brief amount of time, my Lasik eye practictioner mentioned he was performed and that I had been a superb patient. In all of our Lasik eye encounters, the operation itself was considerably less difficult than all of our worries about it beforehand.
