There are millions of people who search the Internet every day for ideas and solutions for creating healthy hair that looks and feels great. They research the products that people like the most, those that are liked the least, they find the home remedies that are said to work miracles (like raw eggs and mayonnaise), and they spend tons of money with leave in treatments and hot oil treatments, not to mention professional treatments too. The problem though is that people are looking in the wrong direction when it comes to having that beautiful hair. While they are busy looking for products to add to their hair, what they should be looking for are ingredients to keep out of their hair if they want it to be healthy.
There are so many ingredients in styling and cleansing products that it is overwhelming, and most of the public has no idea just how many chemicals are in their stuff. Heres a quick, simple, example. Almost all of the products, namely shampoos that are on store shelves contain fragrance in the ingredients list. However, did you know that fragrance can be any combination of up to more than 4,000 different chemicals? Right there is not one ingredient as people think, but thousands. Reported symptoms of exposure to fragrance include depression, hyperactivity, irritability, dizziness, rashes, and even vomiting.
There are some nasty chemicals that are found in the products that people use on their heads that not only dont contribute to healthy hair, but they also damage it and can also harm the body as a whole. For example, the common ingredient Isopropyl Alcohol is used in a giant majority of products. Used also in antifreeze and shellac, formaldehyde is a carcinogen that causes cancer, allergic reactions, sensitivity to other chemicals, and headaches, among others.
Sodium Laurel Sulphate and Sodium Laureth Sulphate are two terrible ingredients that impede more than healthy hair. These guys have protein denaturing properties, and since hair is made of protein, these ingredients can lead to inhibited hair growth, damaged hair follicles, and poor quality hair overall. So why are they even in products? They are detergents and surfactants that cause eye damage and can seep into the skin and cause all kinds of severe abnormalities.
For truly healthy hair, the products that you use need to be healthy themselves, and many chemicals are used in products that are detrimental to the physical and mental well being of consumers, so beware of these and others in the products that you use.
