People were created as social being and cannot exist alone. Each individual always seeks to be in a good relationship. Relationship, whether between husband and wife or between lovers needs to be strong and healthy? Communication is a secret, if one wants to succeed in any relationships. Relationships go dry and sour between couples if there is no communications between them. Sometimes, just listening to the other person when he unloads his burden or problem will do much wonder. Children feel that they are not loved by their parents if they are not heard or given much attention. This problem is often present where both parents are busy earning their living for the sake of the children. They think that being able to provide everything to the kids is enough.
Because of the present economic crises being felt globally, parents often work abroad and must bear the consequences of being away from the kids and the other partner. Parents must remember that children have their right to be heard. Just by listening to them, will make them feel loved and secured. Couples too, must have time for sharing their thoughts and feelings. They must let each other know and feel that they are loved because they are heard. This sharing of thoughts and feeling creates a feeling of security and love. This is very important in a relationship.
Understanding is another key to good relationships. Each individual must be ready to understand the feelings and needs of his partner. Parents should understand the needs and individual differences of their young ones. They should go down to the level of the children and not treat them as adults.
Couples should understand each others needs and feelings. There should always be time for listening and sharing. Each should be ready to lend a hand and share in the responsibilities in the home and in the rearing and bringing up of the children. Understanding should also be extended to the extended members of the family like the in-laws. Problem can easily be resolved if there is communication and understanding.
Respect goes with communication. Treating others just like the way we want to be treated. Respect must be shone not only in words but also in action. Accepting a "no" even though we always expect to hear a "yes". Giving our full attention, although our hands are loaded with paper works. Avoid controlling and criticizing the people around you.
Always seek the good of others more than you. Give constructive suggestions and criticism when needed tactfully and at the proper time. Usually, husbands and wives relationships grow dry as they grow older. This should not be the case. Couples should always look for new ways to discover in each other. They should have more time to share and laugh together.
Above all these, they should put God first. God should be the number one priority in the home. God should always be seen as the unseen visitor in the house, should always be consulted when there is disharmony and problems.
