It is a common step for most graduates or former college students to plunge into the world of employment with the help of a recruitment agency. Specific agencies tend to find jobs within the area of one's skills, for example, travel recruitment agencies will obviously find jobs tailored to the travel industry as long as the person is holding enough qualification for the role. General recruiting agencies will find work within an office environment or within catering. Depending upon what the candidate would like agencies will find ways of finding a temporary or permanent job quickly.
Most temping agencies will find jobs within the week or within a day, making the process easy for the candidate. These jobs tend to pay on a weekly basis which is usually a good thing for people looking to recuperate some money or are in need of money straight away. However, the downside comes when the temp job is offered to them on a permanent basis meaning that they will switch from weekly pay to monthly pay, which can be difficult to adjust to.
When applying to a recruitment agency there are a few things to remember in order to appreciate their services fully. For one thing some agencies may not accept a simple CV without a covering letter, or some recruiters may need reference contact details at the start of the recruiting process so as to secure you a job sooner rather than later. The mistake that most candidates make in any application is to include a photograph on their CVs.
Whilst some agencies may require this, most do not. The photographs will inevitably end up on the notice board, where soon after it will find its way into the trash. There is no need to attach a photograph to your CV unless the agency you are applying to is a modelling or acting agency. For every day 9 to 5 jobs, these are not necessary. However what is necessary is to have your relevant contact details, previous work experience, education and qualification background, a short personal statement and reference contact details (preferably two).
Any recruitment agency will normally advise the candidate on changes that need to be made on the CV, for instance limiting the information down to a maximum of two pages, keeping the information short with some description and making it stand out - in other words what skills and attributes do you have that will prove beneficial to the company you hope to work for? Information like the above are vital to putting up a good impression on potential employers, therefore use the advice given to you by the agency and take advantage of spending time on perfecting your paperwork.
