With the current economic climate it can be pretty miserable when you find that you have discovered a new hobby or talent you cannot afford. I recently found at a house party at my friends that I really enjoyed learning to use the DJ equipment that they had set up. The next day I went online to look at prices of decks and other equipment.
My heart sank when I saw some of the prices, obviously if I really was serious about taking on my new interest I was going to have to be serious about it and cough up some hard-earned cash. But looking at my rather forlorn bank balance my dreams of becoming the next Fat Boy Slim slowly drifted further away.
A couple of weeks later I found I was enticed back into having another go at friends again, we spent the whole afternoon mixing whilst they taught me some valuable disc jockey tips. I absolutely loved it and was surprised how much of a natural I was. My friend asked me if I wanted to start learning properly to help him start a club night he had arranged down in Brighton. I said I wanted to but there was no way I could afford or justify spending lots of cash on the equipment.
That's when I started exploring on the web to find cheaper equipment; obviously I did not want to purchase anything that was not of good quality so used DJ equipment was my best option. I was a bit nervous because I really didn't want to buy something that was broken either but once I spoke to my DJ friend he convinced me that there were websites I would be able to buy trusted used DJ equipment.
Sure enough within a week I had found a recommended site and started ordering some used DJ equipment to feed my new hobby. The items were in a great condition when I received them and I had been able to purchase top quality brands at a much lower price. I guess these would work more than well until I could afford to really splash out on some new equipment.
Needless to say now I am quite the talented DJ and play regularly at my own night, I love my new hobby and love that it didn't cost me the world to get started. Next month I shall probably buy myself some new decks out of the money I have earned DJing, but I will probably sell my old ones so someone else can learn!
