The night before your test you should not eat or drink anything, and refrain from having any alcoholic beverages at least two days prior to testing. Alcohol has a thinning effect on the blood that can interfere with testing.
The test itself is a simple process that will take a very minimal amount of time and effort on your part. It involves only the drawing of a small amount of blood and very limited pain.
Once the collection is taken you can go on about your normal activities and wait for the results to be sent out to your family physician. This should take no more than two weeks. Unless you have levels higher than 200 then nothing else will be done, but if your levels are above that your doctor will likely place you on a restricted diet or even put you on some cholesterol lowering medication.
Having cholesterol testing done at regular intervals will help to eliminate your risks for a variety of health concerns. It is an easy method of ensuring good health in your future.
