To keep a garden in perfect condition, you need to maintain it regularly. Tree surgery is the right practice for caring for damaged trees. This practice involves “repairing” of damaged trees to make them disease free and restore their appearance. Tree surgeons do this job. During the process, they first remove the affected or diseased part and then treat the surface with antiseptics and healing aids. If a tree has small cavities in the bark, they may also have injurious fungi and insects. These cavities are filled with cement or some other material like elastic cement or composition filler. Gardeners are often unable to do these specialized task and tree surgeons should be called for this task.

This technique is used for hardwood trees. This is a kind of pruning technique. When crown thinning is being done, some stems and branches are selected and pruned. This is done in order to increase the light penetration and air movement within the crown of the tree. It improves the tree structure as well.
Crown cleaning
It means removing damaged, dead or diseased branches.
Crown Lifting
In this process, some branches which are situated near the crown of the tree are removed. This is done for the trees near the footpaths and roads. It helps the better light penetration and improves the scenery around.
Felling of dangerous trees
A proper inspection of the trees is done and then the decision to fell a tree is taken. It is preferred to retain the tree if possible. In congested areas, it needs to be done very carefully to avoid any damage of the buildings, structures or anything that is situated close by. It is done by felling the tree in sections, using ropes, pulleys and winches.
Pruning-(fruit trees)
Pruning is done when the trees are dormant, usually between leaf fall and bud burst.
Pollarding
This is a kind of pruning in which tree stems and minor branches are removed annually. It is done about two to three meters above the ground and encourages lateral branches. After initial pruning, the tree is allowed to regrow.
Hedge trimming is also one of activities done by tree surgeons. It keeps the hedges in shape and does not allow them to overgrow on paths and gates area.
Tree surgery is a kind of art. Sometimes it may be even dangerous when performed on tall trees. That’s why tree surgeons are specially trained to use the right equipment in order to avoid accidents as their consequences may be fatal.
